Frequently Asked Questions

DO I HAVE TO GAMBLE TO GO ON A GREATIME GETAWAY?

No. While most of the gang obviously intends to play when on a casino tour, not everyone does. And there is absolutely no pressure to play if you do not want to. However, if you do play we strongly suggest that you use the casino players club cards that get you on the casino mailing list for future free coin and comps and often rebate cash or gifts on your first trip.

HOW DO I GET PLAYERS CARDS AT THE CASINOS YOU VISIT?

In most cases we send in a list of our passengers and the casinos have cards ready for us when we arrive.

Otherwise we will explain on the bus each casino's procedures.

WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE PLAYERS CARDS FOR THE CASINOS AT SOME OR ALL OF THE STOPS?

Great. Bring your existing card(s) and we will turn the number into the casino so you get credit for your play and you are associated with the group.

CAN I USE MY EXISTING COMPS ON THE TOUR?

Absolutely. Many of our passengers are already receiving coin or meal comps that they redeem in addition to the coin and/or meal coupons that are part of the group package. We often go to the same group of casinos in each area so our passengers can take advantage of these additional bonuses.

DO YOU HAVE TO BE 21?

Yes, on a tour with a casino stop. We do not accept passengers on a casino trip under 21. All passengers must also bring valid photo identification with date of birth, driver's license, government issued ID, or a passport.
Adults may bring children six and older on scenic tours.

HOW OLD ARE YOUR PASSENGERS?

Many of the Greatime Gang are over fifty, but there is a wide range of ages on almost every trip. On a recent tour the guests ranged in age from 21 to 96 and everyone had a greatime.

DO I HAVE TO STAY WITH THE TOUR?

Once we reach our destination you are free to do as you wish as long as you meet us at the appointed departure place and time. However, you need to be with the tour group if we check into a hotel or arrive at a casino to receive the complimentary coin or meals as applicable as part of the tour package.

Our passengers are adults, so we treat you like adults. That also means that you must return at the designated departure time. Please tell the tour guide if you are leaving the location, so we are not looking for you when it is time to depart.

DO YOU ALLOW SMOKING ON THE BUS?

No. We stop every 90 to 120 minutes for a rest or meal break, so if you can make it through a movie, you can make it to the next stop. Please be sure to request a smoking room if desired when making your reservations. In most cases the hotels can provide smoking accommodations.

WHAT KIND OF BUS IS IT?

Our beautiful VanHool T-840 motor coach is "state of the art". It is equipped with individual reclining seats, reading lights, air vents, a restroom, and video monitors. With air suspension and a 400-hp Cummings M-11 diesel motor you will enjoy a smooth and confortable ride.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING ON THE BUS?

A book, newspaper or crosswords; cards or small games; snacks or beverages (must have a lid - no beer, wine or booze); a pillow or blanket for napping; the latest jokes or funny internet story; music player with headphones; or just about anything that won't disturb the other passengers, but make your trip a pleasant one.

WHAT KIND OF MOVIES DO YOU SHOW?

We show a combination of new releases and classic films on every trip, usually rated PG-13 - comedies and action/adventure films are the most popular. If you have a VHS tape or DVD of a favorite film you would like to share, feel free to bring it along.

WHAT ABOUT DISABILITIES?

We do not have a wheelchair lift on the bus. Passengers must be able to negotiate the three steps on and off the bus. If you can get on and off, we can stow a folding wheelchair or walker if needed to facilitate getting around at the stops.

On overnight trips, please let us know if you need a handicapped room. We can also take requests for floor or elevator proximity desires, however, we are at the mercy of the hotels for room assignment and can not guarantee the location of any rooms.

WHAT IF I GET SICK OR HAVE AN EMERGENCY AND CAN'T GO?

If you have paid for your trip and cancel more than fourteen days before departure you get a full refund.

As we pay for the rooms in advance and may have turned down other travelers to honor your reservation, passengers who cancel less than fourteen days before departure receive full credit toward a future trip. No shows do not receive a refund or credit.

ARE RESERVATIONS CONFIRMED?

No reservation is confirmed until payment is received. If a trip is requested via the internet, we will email back confirmation of the reservation request. After credit card information or a check is received, we will mail a confirmation about two weeks before the trip. All overnight tours are confirmed by mail along with luggage tags, directions to the departure point, and a copy of the tour itinerary.

CAN I PARK MY CAR AT THE DEPARTURE POINTS?

Yes. Parking is at your own risk, but we have never had a problem with cars left at any of the designated departure locations.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

The bus generally arrives at the departure points fifteen to thirty minutes before the designated departure time and leaves promptly when all passengers are on board or at the designated departure time.

ARE SEATS RESERVED?

We reserve the front seats for the tour guide and a couple of seats may be reserved for our "Golden Passport" holders if on the tour - a few of these have been awarded to our most frequent travelers - otherwise, all seats are first come, first claimed. As many passengers bring personal items aboard, tour courtesy is to maintain the same seats throughout the trip. It also makes it easier for the tour guide to identify who may be missing when it is time to depart.
